The Of Love Tennis Tournament in Utah – How it Got Started and Where it is Today

An Interview with Arlene Racker about the Of Love Tennis Tournament in Salt Lake City

A few weeks ago I sat down to interview Arlene Racker to talk about her journey, her family, and how the Ardene Bullard Of Love Tennis Tournament began after her sister Ardene Bullard passed away suddenly, as well as how the tournament has evolved over the last 13 years, and where it is today.

Please see the entire interview on YouTube here: The Of Love Tennis Tournament – How it Began and Where it is Today.

The Ardene Bullard Of Love Tennis Tournament, held annually in Salt Lake City is one of the largest tennis tournaments in the United States and in 2023 is coming into its 14th year.

Proceeds from the tournament go to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), one of the largest funding organizations for research involving Type 1 Diabetes.

In the United States alone, according to the CDC Website:

  • 283,000 children and adolescents younger than age 20 years—or 35 per 10,000 US youths—had diagnosed diabetes. This includes 244,000 with type 1 diabetes.
  • 1.6 million adults aged 20 years or older—or 5.7% of all US adults with diagnosed diabetes—reported both having type 1 diabetes and using insulin.
