Making a Racquet in September

A monthly update for the Tennis Yellow lifestyle.

September is a month where the kids are back in school and I am trying to enjoy the last bit of summer.

Table of Contents

Racquet Wars

Amelia Island, Florida

This month I am traveling to participate in Racquet Wars, a weekend of fun, competitive tennis, beautiful Florida beaches and some fun in the sun. Keep an eye on my Instagram account for day to day updates of what participating at Racquet Wars looks like and see if that could be a fun tennis destination for you and your friends to try. This year I am scheduled to play mixed doubles with the one and only Alex Chen. You can check out his cool IG account at @alexchentennis for some great tennis lifestyle and tennis tips. Amelia Island is a beautiful place to catch some awesome tennis vibes. Follow along to learn more about tennis travel. I will share with you all of the things I have learned traveling with my tennis racket.

A Tournament to Watch

Laver Cup

September is a month where tennis fans look forward to watching the Laver Cup. The Laver Cup is a tournament that is held in a team format. The two teams that play are “Team World” and “Team Europe” and this year the tournament is scheduled to be held in Berlin, Germany. Make sure to watch for some great tennis both singles and doubles at The Laver Cup tournament. The six men that will be playing on Team Europe will be Alexander Zverev, Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev and one of my favorite men to watch on the court, Carlos Alcaraz. The ultimate drum roll please, Team Europe has Rafael Nadal on their team. There will not be a ton of opportunities to watch Nadal compete, so definitely take a minute and watch a legend play at the Laver Cup. Team Europe will be captained by Bjorn Borg.  Team World will be captained by John McEnroe and will be an amazing mix of talent as well. On Team World are Alex de Mineur, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Frances Tiafoe, Tommy Paul, Taylor Fritz and one of my new favorite talents to watch, Ben Shelton. If you love high drama tennis with a team vibe like I do, definitely tune into the Laver Cup.

Great Looks for Fall

The weather is still warm, but fall is right around the corner. September is a time where we get to play outdoor fall tennis and we have a USTA league session that aligns with that. With another league in session, here are some court to coffee shop looks that will help you bridge your wardrobe and make the transition from “court time” to  “spilling the tea with friends time” comfortable and beautiful.

Recipes of the Month

Summer Salsa

With the kids back in school, I love to have some healthy and tasty snacks on hand for them to enjoy when they get home from school or tennis practice. One of the favorite snacks I love to have on hand, especially at this time of year, is my homemade salsa. This tomato based salsa is fresh and easy to make. See the recipe below or watch me here show you how easy it is to make it. Enjoy the last bit of summer and summer produce with this homemade salsa.
