Protein Bites Recipe – Great for Recovery After Tennis

Protein Bite Recipe – great for recovery after tennis. After tennis, or after any workout for that matter, your body craves/needs protein to help your muscles recover.

There are a lot of protein drinks and powders out there, but the truth is, I don’t like a lot of them. They simply don’t taste that good and some can upset my stomach and leave me feeling bloated.

Plus, a lot of those other methods of getting protein are kind of “frankenfood.” A lot of them have gums and lecithin and all kinds of things that don’t agree with me.

And in general, I prefer whole foods whenever I can make it and take it with me.

That is why I make these Protein Bites at home. They taste great, are easy to make, don’t leave me feeling bloated, and satisfy my protein requirements for recovery. Plus, they are easy to pack and have with me on the court for when practice or my match is over.

Text Recipe

1 – cup of old fashioned oats

1 cup of coconut

1/2 mini chocolate chips

1/2 cup ground flax seed

1/3 cup chia seed

1/2 cup peanut butter

(to add a little more taste, add 1/3 cup of hones

1 – teaspoon of vanilla

Instructions

In a large bowl

  • add the oatmeal, coconut, chocolate chips, flax and chia seeds.
  • mix till evenly distributed
  • Add peanut butter and honey and mix into paste
  • line cooking sheet with parchment paper
  • Using medium or small scoop – scoop out mix in ball shape and place on lined cookie sheet
  • Place in freezer for four to six hours until hard all the way through
  • Store in freezer and they are ready to eat when you need them
